Particle Analyzer

Particle Size Analysis encompasses techniques for determining the size distribution of particles in powders, suspensions and aerosols. Methods include laser diffraction, dynamic light scattering and image-based analysis. Accurate particle size measurement is critical in pharmaceuticals, food & beverage production, paints & coatings, cement and advanced materials manufacturing, where particle size directly impacts product quality, performance and consistency.

How it works

FROM PRINCIPLE TO APPLICATION

In dynamic image analysis, particles are dispersed in a controlled flow and imaged by one or more high-speed cameras. Each captured particle image is analyzed to extract size parameters (equivalent diameter, length, width) and shape descriptors (sphericity, aspect ratio, convexity, symmetry). Millions of individual particles are measured per run, producing statistically robust size and shape distributions. In laser diffraction, a laser beam illuminates a stream of particles and the angular pattern of scattered light is measured by a multi-element detector array, then converted to a volume-weighted particle size distribution using Mie theory.
