The HORIBA Veloci BioPharma Analyzer is a purpose-built fluorescence spectroscopy system designed for quality control and characterization of biopharmaceutical proteins and biologics. It combines the simultaneous excitation-emission matrix (EEM) acquisition capability of HORIBA’s patented LPSVD (laser-pulsed synchronous detection) technology with a dedicated workflow for biopharmaceutical applications including monoclonal antibody (mAb) characterization, protein stability studies, aggregation screening, and higher-order structure (HOS) analysis. The Veloci BioPharma Analyzer captures a full EEM spectrum in seconds, significantly faster than traditional scanning fluorescence spectrometers, enabling high-throughput screening of protein formulations. The instrument uses intrinsic protein fluorescence from tryptophan and tyrosine residues as a label-free probe of protein conformation: changes in EEM peak position, intensity, or shape reflect protein unfolding, aggregation, or chemical degradation. This makes it particularly valuable for comparability studies between reference and biosimilar biologics, stability studies at accelerated stress conditions, and forced degradation studies. The system is compliant with 21 CFR Part 11 requirements for pharmaceutical laboratory data integrity and includes dedicated BioPharma software for method development, data analysis, and reporting. Multiple sample throughput configurations are available including a microplate reader accessory for higher-throughput screening.
