The HORIBA QM-800 is a compact fluorescence spectrometer system optimized for time-resolved measurements of long-lifetime luminescent materials – phosphorescent compounds, TADF (thermally activated delayed fluorescence) emitters, lanthanide complexes, metal-organic frameworks, and biological probes with lifetime in the microsecond-to-millisecond range. The QM-800 uses gated detection with a pulsed xenon lamp excitation source, allowing time-resolved emission spectra (TRES) and phosphorescence lifetime measurements to be conducted with the appropriate time delay after excitation to reject prompt fluorescence and background scattering. This gated approach is essential for measuring phosphorescence in ambient conditions (not requiring cryogenic temperatures), making it uniquely suitable for applications in OLED material characterization, luminescent oxygen sensing, time-resolved immunoassay detection, and studies of spin-orbit coupling in organic materials. The system features an integrated design with automated slit and grating control, making time-resolved phosphorescence measurements accessible to non-expert users. Multiple gate delay and gate width settings allow time-resolved emission studies across a wide range of luminescence lifetimes.
