The MinusK SM-1 is the smallest-format isolator in the MinusK vibration isolation portfolio, providing the same 0.5 Hz negative-stiffness isolation performance in a minimal footprint. The SM-1 is designed for lightweight precision instruments where space is at a premium – small scanning tunneling microscopes, small-format AFMs, laser sources, optical detectors, and other compact vibration-sensitive devices that can be isolated individually. Despite its small size, the SM-1 delivers the full benefit of MinusK’s negative-stiffness technology: ultra-low natural frequency, fully passive operation, no drift, and vibration transmissibility far below that of air tables or soft-mount foam pads at building vibration frequencies. The SM-1 is particularly useful in multi-instrument laboratories where individual isolators are preferred over a large isolation table, and where each instrument requires its own independent vibration isolation.
