The MinusK CT-2 is a compact negative-stiffness vibration isolation table providing 0.5 Hz natural frequency for light to medium instrument loads in a small, utility-free benchtop package.
The MinusK CT-2 is a compact vibration isolation table utilizing MinusK Technology’s patented negative-stiffness mechanism to achieve an ultra-low 0.5 Hz natural frequency in all axes. The CT-2 is configured for lighter instrument loads, making it an excellent choice for sensitive tabletop instruments including scanning tunneling microscopes, small AFMs, nano-indentation systems, laser systems, and other vibration-sensitive equipment where compact size is important. The negative-stiffness mechanism works through a carefully engineered combination of beam-column elements and flexure springs that produce negative spring stiffness, which when combined with a positive stiffness support spring, yields a net stiffness that approaches zero – and thus an extremely low natural frequency – at a specific design load. This results in vibration transmissibility that drops rapidly above 0.7 Hz, providing excellent isolation from building vibration in the 1-100 Hz range. The CT-2 is completely passive with no need for compressed air or electrical power. NewRoad provides the MinusK CT-2 in Israel for scanning probe microscopy and precision measurement applications.
