The MinusK CM-1 is a compact, self-contained vibration isolation module based on MinusK Technology’s patented negative-stiffness mechanism. The CM-1 provides 0.5 Hz natural frequency isolation in both vertical and horizontal axes in a compact package, making it highly versatile for use under a wide range of precision instruments. The compact format allows it to be placed directly under an instrument or instrument platform, offering significant flexibility in laboratory configuration. The negative-stiffness mechanism provides far better vibration isolation than conventional isolators at low frequencies – the key frequency range where building and equipment vibrations cause most problems for nanoscale measurements. Because the system is entirely mechanical and passive, it provides drift-free, maintenance-free isolation without the complexity of active systems or the requirements of pneumatic systems. The CM-1 is suitable for use under AFMs, scanning probe microscopes, optical instruments, weighing balances, and other vibration-sensitive laboratory equipment.
