The MinusK BM-6 is a medium-capacity Bench Mount negative-stiffness vibration isolator providing 0.5 Hz passive isolation for medium-load laboratory instruments such as AFMs and optical microscopes.
The MinusK BM-6 is a medium-capacity model in the Bench Mount (BM) series of passive negative-stiffness vibration isolators. It provides 0.5 Hz natural frequency vibration isolation in all axes for medium-load precision instruments – typically in the 200-350 lb (90-160 kg) range – in a compact under-instrument form factor. The BM-6 is one of the most commonly used MinusK models in scanning probe microscopy and optical microscopy laboratories, where it is placed directly under the instrument to provide isolation without requiring a separate isolation table. The negative-stiffness mechanism achieves a 0.5 Hz natural frequency by combining a positive-stiffness support spring with a negative-stiffness beam-column element, resulting in near-zero net stiffness at the design load and thus extremely low natural frequency. Isolation begins at approximately 0.7 Hz and exceeds pneumatic air table performance across the full building vibration spectrum. The BM-6 is fully passive, requiring no air or electricity, and is user-adjustable for load. NewRoad provides the MinusK BM-6 in Israel for AFM, optical microscopy, and precision measurement laboratories.
