The MinusK BM-1 is the entry-level, lightest-load model in the Bench Mount (BM) series of passive negative-stiffness vibration isolators. It provides 0.5 Hz natural frequency vibration isolation in all axes for lightweight instruments – typically in the 35-60 lb (15-27 kg) range – in a highly compact under-instrument package. The BM-1 is ideal for small scanning tunneling microscopes, compact AFMs, single-component laser systems, optical detectors, and other lightweight precision instruments where individual vibration isolation is preferred. Despite being the smallest model in the BM series, the BM-1 delivers full negative-stiffness performance: isolation starting below 1 Hz, outperforming pneumatic air tables by a wide margin, and providing complete isolation without any external utilities. The BM-1 is particularly cost-effective for laboratories with multiple lightweight instruments where a separate air table for each would be impractical.
