The HORIBA Mesa-7220V2 is a benchtop EDXRF sulfur and multi-element analyzer for petroleum products and liquid samples, delivering rapid, non-destructive elemental analysis of fuels, oils, and lubricants in compliance with petroleum industry testing standards.
The HORIBA Mesa-7220V2 is a benchtop energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrometer optimized for elemental analysis of petroleum products and liquid samples, with particular strength in sulfur determination and multi-element characterization of fuels, lubricating oils, and industrial process liquids. Building on the Mesa platform, the 7220V2 configuration is tailored for the petroleum and petrochemical industry, offering pre-configured analysis conditions and calibration methods for common petroleum matrices. The instrument measures multiple elements simultaneously in liquid samples: sulfur (S), chlorine (Cl), phosphorus (P), calcium (Ca), zinc (Zn), and other elements relevant to fuel and lubricant quality, additive monitoring, and contamination detection. In lubricating oil analysis, multi-element XRF is used to monitor wear metals (Fe, Cu, Al, Cr), additive elements (Ca, Zn, P from ZDDP anti-wear additives, Mo from friction modifiers), and contaminants (Si, Na from water ingress indicators), providing a rapid snapshot of oil condition and machinery health. For fuel analysis, the Mesa-7220V2 measures sulfur and chlorine for regulatory compliance, as well as other fuel additive elements. The benchtop design with enclosed sample chamber and integrated safety features allows installation in standard laboratories without radiation shielding infrastructure. Quantitative analysis is performed against calibration standards or via fundamental parameters. NewRoad provides the HORIBA Mesa-7220V2 in Israel for refineries, lubricant blenders, marine fuel testing laboratories, and industrial process monitoring applications.
