The Delong LVEM 5 is a compact 5 kV bench-top TEM/SEM/STEM electron microscope for high-contrast imaging of biological samples, polymers, and nanostructures without heavy metal staining or conductive coating.
The Delong LVEM 5 is a bench-top electron microscope operating at 5 kV accelerating voltage, providing inherently higher contrast for organic and biological materials than conventional 80-300 kV instruments.
Operating modes:
– TEM: bright-field transmission imaging; 2 nm resolution
– SEM: surface imaging; 10 nm resolution
– STEM: dark-field scanning transmission for nanoparticle contrast reversal
– ED: selected area electron diffraction for crystalline samples
Key advantages of 5 kV:
– 3-5x higher contrast for organic materials (C, N, O) versus 100 kV
– Reduced radiation damage to biological samples
– No heavy metal staining required for cell sections
– No conductive coating for SEM of soft biological samples
Specifications:
– Accelerating voltage: 5 kV (fixed)
– TEM resolution: 2 nm; SEM resolution: 10 nm
– Magnification: 1,000-150,000x TEM; 100-30,000x SEM
– Footprint: 40×50 cm; weight: 50 kg
– Vacuum: integrated turbo pump; no external pump
– Camera: 5 MP cooled CCD; USB to Windows PC
– Power: 110-240 V; 1.5 kVA
Applications: cell biology, polymer morphology, nanoparticle characterization, pharmaceutical nanotechnology.
