The Standard Corrosion Cell accommodates a cylindrical working electrode specimen (rod or disk format), with the cell body providing the electrolyte volume, ports for the reference electrode and counter electrode placement, and typically a gas purge port for N2/Ar deaeration when measurements must be performed in oxygen-free conditions. The three-electrode configuration — working sample electrode, reference electrode (commonly Ag/AgCl or SCE), and large counter electrode — provides precise electrochemical control of the working electrode potential and accurate measurement of the corrosion current.
