The Bio-Logic µSFM is a micro stopped-flow system for rapid kinetics measurements with scarce samples, providing sub-2 ms dead time with sample consumption as low as 8 µL per shot for enzyme kinetics, protein binding, and biochemical reaction rate studies.
The µSFM (micro stopped-flow) from Bio-Logic is a miniaturized stopped-flow system designed for rapid kinetics experiments where sample availability is limited, offering the same mixing performance and MOS module compatibility as the full-scale SFM series but with dramatically reduced sample consumption.
Micro-scale mixing:
– Dead time: <2 ms (same as full-scale SFM)
- Sample volume per shot: 8 µL (vs 80-200 µL in standard SFM)
- Observation cell volume: 1.5 µL
- Minimum sample per experiment: 0.1 mL per syringe
- 10-fold reduction in sample consumption vs SFM-2000
Compatibility:
- Same MOS module interface as SFM-2000, SFM-3000, SFM-4000
- Compatible with MOS-200, MOS-500, MOS-DAD
- Detection: UV/Vis absorbance, fluorescence, CD, diode array
- BioKine32 software for data acquisition and fitting
Design:
- Miniaturized mixing block and observation cell
- Pneumatic drive: same speed and reproducibility as full SFM
- Temperature control: -10 to +70°C Peltier
- Cell path lengths: 1.5 mm (standard) or 10 mm (high sensitivity)
Ideal applications:
- Recombinant proteins: limited expression yield
- Isotopically labelled proteins: expensive preparation
- Rare enzymes or substrates: natural product studies
- Single-molecule labelled samples: FRET pairs
- High-throughput screening: test many conditions on small batches
