The ANALYSETTE 28 ImageSizer is a dynamic image analysis (DIA) particle size and shape analyzer for dry particulate materials, manufactured by Fritsch and distributed by HORIBA in the Israeli market. Dynamic image analysis captures individual particle images while particles flow past an optical system (camera + telecentric lens + illumination), allowing accurate measurement of both particle size and a comprehensive set of shape descriptors for each individual particle in the sample. The ANALYSETTE 28 ImageSizer covers a particle size range from 20 µm to 20 mm, making it particularly suitable for granules, coarse powders, tablets or pellets, seeds, gravel, and other larger particulate materials where laser diffraction may underperform due to the assumption of spherical particle shape. For each particle, the system measures multiple size parameters: equivalent circle diameter (ECD), Feret diameters (min, max, mean), projected area, and perimeter, as well as shape parameters: sphericity, circularity, convexity, aspect ratio, and symmetry. This multi-parameter characterization is particularly important for quality control of angular, elongated, or irregular particles where a single size number is insufficient to describe particle morphology. The dry dispersing unit feeds particles at controlled flow rates past the imaging window, ensuring individual particle imaging without overlap. Results are presented as particle-by-particle data, size distributions (number, area, or volume weighted), and scatter plots of size vs. shape for detailed population analysis.
