The HORIBA Veloci Wine Analyzer is a rapid fluorescence EEM spectrometer designed for wine quality control and authentication, providing fast multi-component analysis of wine samples for phenolic compounds, oxidation markers, and geographic origin fingerprinting.
The HORIBA Veloci Wine Analyzer is a purpose-built fluorescence excitation-emission matrix (EEM) analyzer adapted for wine quality control, authentication, and research. It leverages HORIBA’s fast simultaneous EEM acquisition technology to generate complete fluorescence fingerprints of wine samples in seconds, enabling rapid quality assessment and authentication without complex sample preparation. Wine naturally contains multiple fluorescent compounds including phenolic antioxidants (ferulic acid, caffeic acid, quercetin), oxidation markers (acetaldehyde-sulfite adducts, oxidized polyphenols), and compounds from wood contact (ellagitannins from oak), all of which contribute characteristic fluorescence signatures detectable in the EEM map. The Veloci Wine Analyzer can be used to assess wine oxidation state, phenolic content, geographic origin authentication, variety discrimination, and vintage verification. Chemometric analysis (PCA, PLS-DA, PARAFAC) of EEM data allows building classification models that distinguish authentic wines from counterfeits, or that track quality changes during aging and storage. The system is designed to be operated by non-specialist wine lab staff with guided workflows and automated data analysis. Multiple sample formats are supported including standard cuvettes and flow-through configurations for higher throughput. NewRoad provides the HORIBA Veloci Wine Analyzer in Israel for wine producers, importers, and regulatory labs requiring rapid fluorescence-based quality control.
