The Nanosurf NaioSTM is a compact scanning tunneling microscope with atomic resolution capability, designed for teaching, surface science research, and high-resolution imaging of conducting surfaces in ambient conditions.
The Nanosurf NaioSTM is a compact bench-top scanning tunneling microscope for atomic-resolution surface imaging of conducting and semiconducting samples in ambient conditions.
STM principle and capabilities:
– Tunneling current: 0.1-10 nA; set-point control for constant current imaging
– Z positioning: sub-angstrom piezo control; atomic resolution on flat surfaces (HOPG, Au111, Si)
– XY scan range: 2×2 um (closed loop); Z range: 1 um
– Tip: electrochemically etched tungsten tips; exchange under ambient conditions
– Bias voltage: sample or tip bias -10 to +10 V
Imaging modes:
– Constant current (topography): tip follows surface at constant tunneling current
– Constant height: fixed Z position; current image maps local density of states
– STS (scanning tunneling spectroscopy): I-V curves at defined surface points
– dI/dV spectroscopy: lock-in amplifier option for local density of states imaging
Design:
– Compact: 15x15x15 cm; 4 kg; USB to PC
– Vibration isolation: passive isolation table included
– Nanosurf software: wizard-based approach; real-time imaging; data export
Applications: atomic-resolution imaging of HOPG, gold, silicon; STM teaching; nanoelectronics surface research; adsorbate imaging.
