The BioLogic PBH Pouch Cell Holders are test fixtures designed to interface pouch-format electrochemical cells to BioLogic battery cycling and electrochemical measurement instruments. Pouch cells are widely used in academic battery research because they allow custom electrode stacks and electrolyte formulations to be tested in a realistic cell geometry, and because their thin, flexible format enables in-situ pressure, temperature, and thickness measurements during cycling.

The PBH holders provide reliable, low-contact-resistance clamping of the aluminum (positive) and copper (negative) current collector tabs that extend from the pouch cell body, establishing the electrical connections needed for charge/discharge cycling and electrochemical measurements. Proper tab contact is critical for accurate voltage measurement and for avoiding localized resistance that would appear as artifacts in the data — particularly in EIS measurements where the high-frequency intercept reflects ohmic resistance including tab contact resistance.

The holders are compatible with a range of pouch cell sizes typical of lab-scale and small prototype cells, and provide four-terminal (Kelvin) connections to eliminate the effect of lead resistance from current measurement. Multiple PBH holders can be used simultaneously with multi-channel BCS battery cycler systems.
