The BioLogic BluPEM is a dedicated PEM fuel cell test station that integrates precise hydrogen and air/oxygen flow management, temperature and humidity control, back pressure regulation, and a built-in potentiostat/galvanostat with FRA, providing a complete turnkey platform for polarization curves, power density characterization, EIS, and electrochemical diagnostics of PEM fuel cells.
The BioLogic BluPEM is a complete, integrated test station specifically designed for the electrochemical characterization of PEM (proton exchange membrane) fuel cells at the single-cell and short-stack level. Unlike general-purpose potentiostats combined with separate test fixtures, the BluPEM integrates all the subsystems needed for a rigorous fuel cell measurement in a single, software-controlled instrument: precise mass flow controllers (MFCs) for hydrogen and air/oxygen supply, independent heated humidifiers for gas humidification, cell temperature control, and back-pressure regulators on both anode and cathode sides, together with a high-current potentiostat/galvanostat and frequency response analyzer (FRA) for electrochemical measurements.
The BluPEM software orchestrates all these subsystems to enable the standard suite of PEM fuel cell characterization measurements: polarization curves (current-voltage curves) that reveal the electrochemical performance of the membrane-electrode assembly (MEA) and identify kinetic, ohmic, and mass-transport loss regimes; power density curves for maximum power output characterization; electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) at any operating point to separate membrane resistance, charge transfer resistance, and mass transport contributions; cyclic voltammetry for ECSA (electrochemically active surface area) measurements; and chronoamperometry for durability and degradation studies. The integrated design ensures that gas flows, temperatures, and back pressures are synchronized with electrochemical measurements — critical for reproducible and interpretable fuel cell data.
NewRoad provides the BioLogic BluPEM in Israel for academic and industrial fuel cell research laboratories developing and evaluating MEAs, membrane materials, electrocatalysts, and bipolar plate designs for PEM fuel cell applications.
