FUTEK Cables are purpose-designed signal cables for connecting FUTEK strain gauge transducers — load cells, torque sensors, pressure transducers, and multi-axis sensors — to readout instruments, signal conditioners, amplifiers, and data acquisition systems. They are engineered specifically for the low-level mV/V differential signals produced by Wheatstone bridge transducers, where cable quality directly determines measurement noise and immunity to electromagnetic interference.
FUTEK transducer cables use a foil-and-braid shielding architecture: a metallized foil layer immediately surrounding the signal conductors provides coverage against electrostatic (capacitively coupled) interference, while an outer braided copper shield provides low-impedance coverage against magnetically coupled (inductive) interference. The drain wire, bonded to the foil at the instrument end, allows the shield to be grounded at a single point to prevent ground loops.
Conductor count and gauge are matched to the transducer connector pinout: 4-conductor for 4-wire bridge connections (excitation+, excitation−, signal+, signal−), or 6-conductor for 6-wire sense connections where the readout instrument monitors the voltage drop in the excitation leads and compensates for IR drop in long cable runs — critical for accurate measurements when cable runs exceed a few meters.
Connector options are matched to FUTEK transducer connectors: PT series (FUTEK PT bayonet-lock), SR series (straight push-lock), MIL-C-5015 circular military connectors, DB9/DB15 D-sub, bare wire end, or M12 industrial circular. Cables are available in standard lengths or cut to custom lengths for specific installations.
