FUTEK Junction Boxes are passive wiring enclosures that provide a structured, labeled interface for connecting multiple FUTEK strain gauge transducers — load cells, torque sensors, or force sensors — into a parallel summing network. The summing configuration distributes a single regulated excitation voltage from the readout instrument or signal conditioner across all connected transducer bridges and sums their mV/V output signals into a single combined output channel that the instrument reads as a single measurement.

Parallel summing junction boxes are used whenever multiple transducers must be combined to measure a single total load — for example, four load cells installed at the four corners of a platform scale or conveyor weigh frame, where the total platform load is the sum of the four corner loads. The junction box averages the excitation across the bridges and sums the output signals so the connected instrument reads the total weight without requiring a multi-channel data acquisition system.

FUTEK Junction Box features:

Corner correction (also called corner trimming or span adjustment) is critical in multi-sensor platform applications: even when each load cell is individually calibrated, mechanical factors such as uneven mounting surfaces or slight structural asymmetry cause each sensor to see a different fraction of the applied load. The trim pots in the junction box allow the installer to apply equal test loads at each corner and adjust each channel’s contribution until all corners read identically, ensuring the summed output is accurate regardless of where the load is placed on the platform.
