FUTEK Bi-Axial sensors are multi-component transducers that measure two mechanical quantities simultaneously within a single sensing element — most commonly a combination of axial force (Fz) and torque (Tz), or two orthogonal shear forces (Fx/Fy). By integrating two measurement axes into one housing, Bi-Axial sensors eliminate the need to stack separate load cells and torque sensors, reducing assembly height, minimizing compliance in the load path, and simplifying cabling and signal conditioning.
The sensing element uses independent strain gauge bridge circuits arranged to respond to each target axis while rejecting the other — cross-talk between axes is minimized through geometry optimization and bridge compensation. The result is two independent, calibrated outputs that can be read simultaneously by a multi-channel amplifier or data acquisition system.
